Reef Resilience: Building Resilience into Coral Reef Conservation
We have been actively working to get information about how to respond to the impacts of climate change into the hands of coral reef managers since 2004. In that time we have used a variety of methods, all of which can be adapted for your site or region. We currently have the resources and opportunities described below available at no cost.
This is a free course that can be taken online or on CD (by request). It is self-paced and can be started at any time. This course is also available to instructors that want to use it for their own students. Please contact us if you are interested in setting up an individualized course room.
Since 2005, we have been implementing training workshops that focus on understanding and building resilience into reef management activities. The curriculum has evolved and is easily adaptable to your site. We have made the workshop manual available for downloading on this website. If you are interested in getting a workshop CD with presentations, activity guides, and associated resources, please contact us.
In 2010 we held our first Training of Trainers Course based on our regional Reef Resilience Workshops. This course includes a 12-week mentored version of the Online Reef Course and a 4-5 day workshop that focuses on developing a training plan and learning presentation and facilitation skills. Participation in this course is competitive. A course for the Western Pacific was held in Palau in June 2011, and for Southeast Asia the course was held in in Bali in 2012. Applications are now closed for the course in Zanzibar, Tanzania, June 10-14, 2013.
